Rick Hubbard, Walking Across America To Fix Our Democracy,
To Speak at Capitol Rally in Madison

Journey to connect with democracy advocates began in Los Angeles, 2022.

Will end in January 2025 in Washington, DC

Rally Date:   Saturday, August 10th, 10:00 am Central

Rally Place:  Wisconsin State Capitol, State Street balustrade

A recent Gallup poll shows Americans with less faith in our democracy than ever.  Only 28% say they’re satisfied with the state of democracy.  Across parties, the percent satisfied is just 17% of Republicans, 27% of Independents and 38% of Democrats.

Rick Hubbard, 82 years old, is doing something about it.  He’s been walking across America for more than a year already, connecting with others who are also doing something.

“We have the ability to make our political system more inclusive, more competitive and more representative, “ said Hubbard. “Our walk is a nonpartisan effort to make the case across the U.S. that fixing democracy first is the most effective way to unlock progress on issues important to us all.”

Hubbard’s appearance is sponsored by Voters First Wisconsin, a nonprofit, all volunteer group committed to bringing Final Five Voting to Wisconsin through education, outreach, and house parties.

Final Five Voting entails a single primary open to all parties, with up to five candidates of any party moving on to a general election that uses an instant runoff for a true majority winner.

“Now, more than ever, we the people of Wisconsin, need to expose the inequities of a voting system that incentivizes partisanship.  The promise of Final Five Voting gives great hope to voters everywhere as it incentivizes problem-solving,” said Bob Betzig, spokesperson for Voters First Wisconsin.

Other speakers slated to speak include COL(R) Kevin Miller of Veterans for All Voters and George Penn of Wisconsin United to Amend.
