My Friends:

When I last wrote, I knew that we were in the waning days of Sally’s life.   I’m sorry to tell you that Sally, my life-partner and friend, passed away Saturday, April 8, having spent her last hours close to family.

It’s hard to find the words to express the hole that her loss leaves in our hearts and our lives.  But take comfort that she was a fighterSallyHoweandRickHubbard.jpg until the end:   Against her cancer to be sure, but also for her family, community and country.   Her support and understanding in my quest for an equitable democracy is something for which I am eternally grateful.

With the help of Sally’s family, we’ll be making arrangements in these next few days.  Then begins the process of coping – and healing.  I’ll be leaning on you all during this difficult period.

When the pain has lessened and we restart life without her, I’ll begin planning my return to my walk to fix our Democracy.   Right now, though, I need to fix my broken heart.

Love and hugs to you all,

Rick
